Closing Ceremony for International Days:
We had a fantastic African drumming group perform for us. They were amazing!
First, they danced and interacted with the
audience giving a very lively introduction.
Then we had a quiz about what foods and animals come from Africa. After, we learnt a couple of basic rhythms and tried out these together on the instruments we made or brought with us from class. A couple of representatives from each class also got to try the big African drums which we’d just learnt were made from goat hide.
After that we practiced some dance moves to the drum beat. Then it was time for a water break and to sit down and find out about how celebrations are often held in African villages with drums and dancing. We enjoyed the book very much and wanted to try the festival ourselves so we finished with a big circle celebration music and dance session putting together the moves we had learnt earlier!
What a wonderful way of learning more about
other places in the world. Thank you so much to our Guests. We sang them a song
as a parting gift.
